Me and my little sis made some cupcakes this morning all on our own! It tasted really nice and using rose water instead of vanilla extract gives a really good taste! Heres the recipe: 125g of caster sugar, 125g of butter (softened ,) 1ts of vanilla extract ( this is where i used rose water insted) and 2 large eggs. Its better to mix them ingredient by ingredient but mixing them at once is fine, a good timing for the cupcakes is 20 minutes in the oven. This is a very simple recipe for basic cupcakes and give a great finish. When they’re ready, you can decorate it however you like! Unless you want it how it is. With these measurements, you’re expected to make 12 cupcakes. Double the measurements, double the cakes! Also, when you put your batter in the cupcake cases, use 1 tablespoon and make sure it fills halfway through! Try this recipe with your family!

Oh yeaaa, i forgot to tell about this heart touching movie: The Boy Who Harassed The Wind, it is based on a true story and it is set in Africa. The movie is about a part of Africa in famine and a boy discovered how to make electrisity to bring water from a pump and make the veggies grow. Its really more than that, it is rated PG and is really good for the whole family. Its quite sad really, ofc i cried but it ends really nicely. Yes, you need to be working through the pack of homework as well as the online tasks and Mathletics/ Bugclub from next Monday (when term restarts). Please make sure you put your name so we know who has commented! I’m sorry you feel like it’s too much – remember to space it out. We’ve thought really carefully about how to make sure you have enough to keep you busy without overloading you; we need to make sure that you are still learning while we’re not in school. The blog tasks are put up once per week and are not long tasks, you can spread them out over the week. Mathletics and bug club are about 30 mins per day and the paper homework offers you some additional tasks around the online work, or for people who don’t have access to a device online. This is still less work than you’d be doing if we were in school as normal. If you have questions about specific tasks you can ask us on the blog or email us on year5@thomasbuxtonps.co.uk.

Don’t worry Tahrima, as Ms Chau said in her response to your other message, just do your best. The tasks are for the whole week so you can spread them out and do as much as you can around other commitments. With the rights respecting tasks, normally we would be building rights respecting into our work in class. Because we can’t do this, the weekly task is a way to help you to keep thinking about your rights while we’re not in school. Not something to worry about though! With fasting, I know it’s a very important part of Ramadan for adults, but because children are still growing it’s important that you are being careful with your fasting, please check any ‘challenges’ with an adult.

No you can eat from after the sunset prayer until sehri or suhur ends. Taraweeh is so long it’s like at ten thirty in the night so you barely get any sleep because of all the things you have to do in Ramadan.

Don’t stress! Just start with today’s tasks and do each day from here onwards. I’ll see if it’s possible to delete some of the earlier allocations. With all I the tasks just do what you can.

As I said to Isa, just do the task for today and try and do them every day from now on, don’t worry about the ones that were assigned previously (though if you have some time you can do some extra ones if you want!).

my mum bought some HUGE prawns and my sister put it in water to melt the ice off and then they started moving and she said they were alive so she sat down and started having a full on chat with them she kept on saying ‘you deserve a better life’ and we all were laughing so quarantine has brought my family closer to each other we tend to have fights but we are now so close we don’t even have to apologise and we are back to normal. in my old house we were never in quarantine so we had major fights and sometimes we would not include others in our fun activities. this is a secret that i trust you with at mid night we all get up and have a party for a few minutes then go back into our rooms and stay up till 2AM then half an our of sleep then we eat pray sleep but recently my routine has been different i still attend the party i just go sleep straight away after and then when we wake up to eat and pray i stay up from then till 9AM and sometimes it is really useful today an 5:16AM it was beautiful the sky was pink

the funniest thing happened my sister does online tuition and she took my sisters ipad and my sister was bored cuz all she does is go on her ipad so she went on my mums phone and dowloaded pokemon GO and she saw a pokemon on this pole that was 100 years old (never new that i thought it was just a pole) anyways she looked out the window to catch it and she failed and came back then she screamed because she saw a random pokemon come and she thought it was a rat thaen they started a reality show cuz my uncle called and that turned into a story of a murderous queen where the people would go into her chambers and never come back out buuuuuut that turned into me being all the peasant in the world my sister still being the queen and my younger sister being the government and now my lil sis said i am useless and killed me and she said because she is more important she is now the queen and my other sister is the peasant now we are arguing who is more important the queen or the government also my lil sis thinks the government is more important because we always used to ask each other what does the queen do all day if the government makes 90% choices of what happens i mean all she does is aprove what the new laws should. be

    Reply
    1. aturnbull

Wow, sounds like a very imaginative game! Great to see you including some of your learning from last term too. The queen is kept pretty busy (especially considering that she’s in her 90s!) – usually she spends her days answering letters, giving out knighthoods, having meetings with her staff and meeting and greeting diplomats, bishops, judges and military leaders, as well as doing lots of public appearances opening new buildings etc. But like everyone her working day will have changed quite a bit in lockdown…

You don’t need to zoom, it’s completely optional but it will be a chance for you to ‘see’ (via a computer) some of your friends and say hello. It would be lovely to see as many of you as possible on the call but it’s up to you. If you decide you want to join please ask an adult to send an email to year5@thomasbuxtonps.co.uk and we will send details. Hi Isa – The government has put forward a plan for a possible reopening of schools for some year groups from the 1st of June – but only if the science shows that it’s safe for this to happen. At the moment it would be Year 6, Year 1 and Reception coming back to school from 1st June (or whenever the government scientists say it is safe), and possibly other year groups after that but it all depends on what happens with the virus. Mrs Flanagan is putting together plans for this at the moment – a letter went out through the Piota app on Friday with more details. As soon as there is any news for Y5 we’ll let you know!

The reason why i painted it is because i watch this girl called moriah elizibeth (one of the main things that are special about her name is her enitials are ‘me’)and what i learnt from her art chanel is that firstly realism is hard secondly i could do wayyyyy better than what i do and not everything is perfect and she inspired me in sooo many ways and i can do so much in lockdown she is the reason why i painted it also feltips don’t blend too easily (more like they don’t blend at all)also you probably know this but my parents are too busy to buy coloring pencils or paint and so i used a bunch of old coloring pencils and put them in water in april and let it sit until the day before my sisters b day and i made paint and you don’t have to wait that long for it to dry you can wait like a minute and it is dry and it blends really easily

NOT THE SYSTEM BUT THE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS I TRIED THE QUESTIONS AHAIN ON A PIECE OF PAPER TO MAKE IT EASIER WITH HELP WITH MY BROTHER AND I CHECKED WITH A CALCULATOR AND I WAS RIGHT AND THE QUESTIONS DIDNT MAKE SENSE! ANOTHER WAY MATHLETICS IS BROKEN IS THAT ON GRID METHODS IT DOESNT LET YOU SUBMIT AND IT SAYS YOU NEED TO ADD THE ANSWER BUT IT DOESNT GIVE THE BOX YOU NEED TO WRITE IT IN AND IT STILL WONT LET YOU SUBMIT!

    Reply
    1. ahuddleston

Hi Adiba, I’ve had a look at your results and you have passed nearly everything you have attempted so you’re doing really well! There were only two activities you need to retry. One is the measurement test and one is short division. However, you very nearly passed both of these so I don’t think Mathletics is broken. I’ve reassigned them to you so that you can have another go. If there is a particular method you want me to go over, email the school email with your question and I will respond.

    here are the lyrics
How much do I love mash?
    By Jiyaad Ahmed

I get on with life as a student,
    I’m a funny kinda person.
I like watching films on Sundays,
I like baking cakes in the week.
    I like to contemplate chips.
But when I start to daydream,
My mind turns straight to mash.

    Boom boom shake da boom-boom-boom!

Sometimes I look at myself and I look into my eyes,
I notice the way I think about mash with a smile,
Curved lips I just can’t disguise.
But I think it’s chips making my life worthwhile.
Why is it so hard for me to decide which I love more?
    Chips or…
    Mash?

I like to use words like ‘cheerio,’
I like to use words like ‘righteo.’
I like to use words about chips.
But when I stop my talking,
My mind turns straight to mash.

    Chips or…
    Mash?

I like to hang out with John,
I like to kick back with Joe,
    But when left alone,
My mind turns straight to mash.

    Chips or…
    Mash?

I’m not too fond of smelly rubbish,
    I really hate smelly feet,
But I just think back to mash,
    And I’m happy once again.

yesterday my mum cut my hair and normally she cuts it not too short but for the first time since nursery my hair only goes up to my shoulders and then today i thought well what hair styles can i do with such short hair also sometimes i wish lockdown was over because chores are more frequent and if we did have school we would be home around 4-6 o’clock and then the house would already be tiidy because whoever comes home first cleans up but then because of lockdown firstly we get to have more game time with our cousins on call secondly we have more time on lunch and dinner (i didn’t mention breakfast because even in or out of lockdown breakfast is a mess) and also my sister is studying more and she has 2 hour tution online my younger sister refuses to do homework but she does bug club and mathletics which is good

It is important to keep active but it’s also important to take time to rest. Try not to get stressed – I like to plan my day in the morning. I write a list so that I know what I need to do and make sure I will also have time to rest. With the homework, decide which part you want to start with and try your best. Don’t worry if you can’t get it all done.

Go to classroom.google.com and enter the username and password Ms Dankwa gave to you and it should take you straight to the Lewitt area. Make sure that no-one else is logged into a google account on the same device or it won’t work! I think you were also given a handout about google classroom at the meet the teacher session with Mr Hodges on Monday so check in the papers you have from that.

I like the image of you leaning over your friend’s shoulder – it’s the small things like that which have changed which we miss the most I think.
