Don’t chuck your tin! Put it in the bin!

On Tuesday, Whales class had a sticky situation: Someone had littered all over our lovely, green grass!

Littering at Thomas Buxton? No thank you!

The Oxford English Dictionary defines litter as:
Rubbish such as paper, tins, and bottles left lying in an open or public place:

But why is littering such a bad thing? After all, as Sayf pointed out, it’s some people’s job to pick litter up! We talked about reasons why we should throw our litter away, and here’s what we came up with:

reasons not to litter

At Thomas Buxton, we look after our school: That’s part of what makes it a great place to be!

Can you read our slogans?

So Whales class says:
“Litter bugs are as bad as slugs!” – Zaara & Moorsalin
“Don’t chuck your tin! Put it in the bin!” – Inaaya & Saima
“It looks horrific. So don’t try it, mate!” – Sayf.
