Stop Motion Animations: Life Cycle of a Butterfly

Here are a selection of Year 2’s wonderful Stop Motion Animations showing the life cycle of a butterfly.

The children used the iPad app Stop Motion.

They drew the different stages using a whiteboard and pen and took a photo of each beautiful image.

Then using the app, they put all the pictures together to create short animations.

They went to lots of effort and needed to use certain skills to make their animations effective. It was very important to hold the iPad perfectly still when taking each photo so that the movement through the stages looked realistic.

Have you ever used this app to help your learning? Do you think Year 2 could improve their animations in any way? What do you think they could do differently?

Please share your thoughts in the comment section. We hope you enjoyed our animations.
